Black Clover Movie: Why Mereoleona Fighting a Wizard King Alone

After its release, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King achieved an impressive feat by securing a spot in the top 10 movies on Netflix across various countries. The movie captivated audiences with its stunning animation, immersing them in a world of exhilarating battles where the Magic Knights clashed against the formidable former Wizard Kings.

Among the many intense fights that kept viewers on the edge of their seats, one particular showdown stood out: Mereoleona Vermillion versus Princia Funnybunny. Unlike the other encounters that had certain limitations or constraints, Mereoleona’s confrontation with Princia was a pure one-on-one clash. However, this remarkable battle has also sparked discussions among fans regarding the power scaling within the world of Black Clover, raising some uncertainties.

Mereoleona Fight against Princia In movie Leaves Black Clover fans confused

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King presented four significant battles in the movie, namely Asta vs Conrad Leto, Black Bulls vs Edward Avalanche, Fuegoleon, Nozel, Yami, Yuno vs Jester Garandros, and Mereoleona Vermillion vs Princia Funnybunny.

While it was understandable that Asta, the protagonist with his anti-magic abilities, could defeat a former Wizard King alone, fans had mixed feelings about Mereoleona’s fight against Princia.

Many fans found it perplexing that Mereoleona could take on Princia single-handedly, whereas it took the combined effort of three Magic Knight Squad captains and Yuno to confront Jester.

From this perspective, it may appear that the movie, in its attempt to showcase Mereoleona’s prowess, may have disrupted the power scaling established in the series.

However, some observant fans pointed out that viewers should not overlook the fact that all three Magic Knight captains – Nozel Silva, Fuegoleon Vermillion, and Yami Sukehiro – had their mana drained by the Imperial Sword, significantly weakening them in the movie. This explains why they needed to collaborate with Yuno to combat Jester.

In contrast, as established in the series, Mereoleona already possessed remarkable strength surpassing her brother Fuegoleon. In the manga, Fuegoleon was even offered the opportunity to become the Wizard King. Given Mereoleona’s superior strength, it can be inferred that she is at least on par with, if not stronger than, a Wizard King.

How fans reacted to Mereoleona vs Princia

The battle between Mereoleona Vermillion and Princia Funnybunny received immense praise from fans. Many viewers considered it the standout fight in Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King and expressed their desire for it to have had a longer duration. Unfortunately, the intense action came to an abrupt end when Asta shattered the Imperial Sword.

Fans were captivated by the clash between these two mages and held hopes of seeing more of Princia Funnybunny in future installments. However, given her untimely demise, the likelihood of her making a return appears slim.

Nevertheless, there remains a glimmer of possibility as some fans speculate that Lucius Zogratis may bring her back to the series as a Paladin. This prospect fuels their anticipation for a potential rematch between Mereoleona Vermillion and Princia Funnybunny.
