Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc Main Plot
Following Muichiro and Mitsuri’s display of their Demon Slayer Marks in the intense battle against the Upper Moons, a glimmer of hope emerges for the Ubuyashiki Family and the Corps. After grappling with a prolonged disadvantage, the demon slayers now stand a chance of prevailing over the formidable Upper Moons by unlocking the power of their marks.
However, the prerequisites for activating this newfound power are no easy feat. Consequently, the entire Demon Slayer Corps embarks on rigorous training under the tutelage of the Hashira, marking the commencement of the Hashira Training Arc. The Hashira shoulder the responsibility of training both their junior members and themselves.
Traditionally, Hashira do not personally train individuals except for their designated successors, Tsuguko. Yet, given the altered circumstances, those below the rank of Hashira are compelled to undergo training under their guidance. The training regimen is structured into three distinct phases. The initial segment involves grueling physical training under Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira who, despite retiring after the “Entertainment District Arc,” maintains a connection to the Demon Slayer Corps.
The second phase encompasses flexibility training led by Mitsuri and high-speed training led by Tokito. The final and most challenging segment involves swordsmanship under Obanai, mastering infinite strikes with Sanemi, and strength training with Gyomei.
Simultaneously, this training proves advantageous for the Hashira, as they engage in sparring sessions with Corps members sequentially, thereby enhancing their own physical prowess. The Hashira also strive to create situations that can trigger the activation of their Demon Slayer Marks. Meanwhile, individuals like Mitsuri, Tokito, and Tanjiro, who already possess marks, focus on training to maintain their “Mark Condition.”
The Two Hashira Who Don’t Take Part in the Training
Every Hashira, including the retired members, had the expectation to rigorously train the demon slayers in preparation for the upcoming battle. Notably, Shinobu Kocho and Giyu Tomioka opted not to participate. In Shinobu’s case, her frail physique renders her incapable of decapitating a demon, relying solely on the poisons she personally concocts.
Consequently, she finds herself unable to contribute to the physical or swordsmanship training of others. During the Hashira Training Arc, Shinobu was occupied with preparing poisons for the impending Final Battle. On the other hand, Giyu initially refrained from participating in the training but later joined, swayed by Tanjiro’s persistent pursuit.
Having both trained under Urokodaki, Tanjiro sought personal instruction from Giyu, a request that Giyu initially declined. The Hashira Training Arc is set to unveil Giyu’s backstory and delve into his friendship with Sabito. While Giyu may not be providing lessons to others, he will engage in personal training sessions with Sanemi.
