What’s The Jujutsu Kaisen Culling Game Arc About?

The Culling Game Arc represents the ninth narrative segment in Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen.

Initiated following the events of the Shibuya Incident, the Culling Game is masterminded by the ancient sorcerer Kenjaku. With the overarching goal of instigating a new era of prosperity for jujutsu sorcery.

For those already perturbed by the substantial casualties witnessed in the Shibuya Incident. The Culling Game introduces an even more ruthless dimension. Described as a Darwinian death ritual or a battle royale, this conflict pits sorcerers and non-sorcerers, referred to as players, against each other. Within the confines of this deadly game, participants accumulate points by eliminating one another.

The participation guidelines for the Culling Game encompass eight rules that every participant must adhere to:

  • Upon awakening their cursed technique, players are obligated to engage in the Culling Game within 19 days, selecting a colony for their participation.
  • Violating the first rule subjects a player to cursed technique removal, resulting in their demise.
  • Non-players entering a colony automatically become players, while civilians initially trapped within a barrier at the game’s onset are permitted a safe exit.
  • Players accumulate points by eliminating other participants.
  • Points are awarded by the game master based on the perceived value of a player’s life, with sorcerers earning five points and non-sorcerers earning one point.
  • Participants can utilize 100 points to introduce a new rule into the Culling Game.
  • The game master is obligated to accept any new rule proposed, except if it has a lasting impact on the game.
  • Should a participant’s score remain unchanged for 19 days, their cursed technique will be revoked, leading to their demise.
