The trailer offers a glimpse into the anime’s style and showcases the characters, particularly Harley Quinn and the Joker, in an anime-inspired aesthetic. It also provides hints about the isekai concept, suggesting that the characters will be transported to another world. Notable scenes include a close-up shot of a flying dragon and fleeting glimpses of floating islands. While it remains uncertain if this series will be part of James Gunn’s “Elseworlds” approach for DC movies and shows that diverge from the main DC Universe, there is no explicit mention of such branding in connection to the project.
Unfortunately, the trailer and accompanying website do not provide a release window for Suicide Squad Isekai, leaving fans eager for more information. Considering that the release of the Suicide Squad game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, was recently postponed from May to February, it may be some time before fresh content from DC’s team of villains becomes available.

At this stage, it is uncertain whether Suicide Squad Isekai is part of James Gunn’s 10-year plan for DC. During Anime Expo, WIT Studio president George Wada mentioned that Gunn has not contacted him yet. But expressed hope that Suicide Squad Isekai will pleasantly surprise Gunn.
Director Eri Osada describes the collaboration with the writers as a “perfect combination” for crafting the scenario. Osada expresses high confidence in their abilities and finds it reassuring to work alongside them.
