Since the debut of the Minato manga, Naruto: The Whorl Within the Spiral, many newcomers to the manga world have been curious about the concept of a “One Shot.”

A One Shot refers to a self-contained manga story that typically lasts for a single issue. These standalone stories, often labeled as #1s or specials, do not have subsequent issues or ongoing series.

One Shot manga are usually created when a topic may not be financially viable for a full-fledged series but still garners enough popularity to justify regular publication, often on an annual or quarterly basis. As a result, characters, whether heroes or villains, and significant concepts may occasionally appear in a series of one-shots.

Furthermore, One Shot manga are commonly produced for contests and can sometimes be expanded into full-length manga series. Many beloved manga series, such as Dragon Ball, Berserk, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, and Death Note, began as standalone works. In essence, they originated as One Shot manga before evolving into ongoing series.

During the 20th-anniversary celebration of the Naruto series, fans worldwide participated in a voting process to choose their favorite Naruto character. Minato emerged as the most popular character among the fans, resulting in a special award for the character.

As part of the award, a brand-new one-shot manga centered solely around the character with the highest popularity was created. Hence, it was predetermined that the winner would receive a One Shot manga dedicated to them.

Additionally, as part of the 20th-anniversary celebration, there will be a special new season of the original Naruto anime airing later this autumn. In response to fans’ demand and if there is enough pressure for more manga content, Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, may consider releasing another chapter before September. The upcoming Naruto anime, scheduled to debut in September, is reported to consist of four episodes.

Final thoughts

The Naruto fandom rejoiced as a new addition to the franchise arrived in the form of a captivating one-shot story. Fans were thrilled to witness beloved characters such as Kushina and Jiraiya, among others. Furthermore, the story shed light on the origins of Rasengan and Minato’s creation of this iconic technique.

The fan community expressed their delight and eagerness for more chapters, if feasible. However, given that the manga is a one-shot, the chances of it receiving additional chapters are slim. Nevertheless, it is not entirely impossible for another chapter to be produced if there is a substantial demand from the passionate fanbase.
