Open world games are getting more and more popular, and many companies are changing themselves to be more like open world games to attract more fans. Therefore, a few of these games will come out in 2023. New open world games are now bigger and better than ever before as console and PC gaming become more similar. We usually see RPGs, action-adventure, and survival games as the most common types of open world games. However, we have chosen a few games that seem to be different from what we usually expect. This list will show the best open world game for Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Insomniac is hard at work on a direct sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man, which will be released exclusively for PS5. Many titles are set to be released in 2023. However, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated. Why? Because Insomniac Games’ past two releases were fantastic. They delved deeply into Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ lives and provided experiences that fans couldn’t get enough of.
We think Spider-Man 2 to fully leverage the PS5 hardware, similar to the first PS4 exclusive, to allow for shorter load times, better gameplay, and more detailed surroundings.
That makes the wait for the game really difficult. There’s only one trailer yet for the game and Kraven the Hunter, Venom. And a slew of other well-known Marvel villains is expected to make an appearance.
Hopefully, we’ll hear more about the title from Insomniac shortly. That way, we can get even more excited about the game.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a forthcoming action-adventure game by Rocksteady Studios, the makers of the popular Batman: Arkham series.
It takes set in an open area modeled on Metropolis, with players managing four selectable Suicide Squad characters: Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark.
The plot revolves around a four-man wrecking crew’s quest to fight Brainiac after he infiltrates Earth and tries to manipulate the Justice League.
Suicide Squad was designed with co-op in mind, allowing players to pair up with pals throughout the storyline or play solo, swapping between identities and depending on AI partners.
Forspoken
Forspoken, one of the first AAA games to be released in 2023, has had a problematic development history. It is a forthcoming open world action-adventure game now in development at Luminous Productions, a new Square Enix gaming company created by members of the Final Fantasy 15 development team.
In the game, you’ll take on the role of Frey, a lady from New York. She is transported from her home to the realm of Athia, a country of both magic and monsters. To try to return home, she must implement different magical skills she discovers inside herself to combat enemies and return home.
If you’re looking for a fantastic fantasy adventure, Forspoken is the game for you.
In the teaser clip, we see Athia has the ability to produce roots from the earth, and fire-breathing wolves are among the game’s enemies.
Given the developer’s penchant for JRPGs, it’ll be intriguing to see how they apply their skills to a new genre; if you’re a Final Fantasy lover, keep a watch on this one.
Hogwarts Legacy
The best video game recreation of Harry Potter’s wizarding world has finally reached PC and consoles with Hogwarts Legacy. This single-player adventure follows a fifth-year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as she uncovers ancient magic sources while stopping evil goblins and wizards from trying to use them.
As in most fantasy books, Hogwarts Legacy involves a young protagonist finding out they are the “chosen one” and overcoming an evil trying to gain control of the land.
There are some engaging and enjoyable cutscenes, but this type of narrative does not offer anything original or exciting. Hogwarts and its surroundings are beautifully reconstructed, and this is where the game truly shines. Floating over Hogsmeade or running around the huge castle are iconic moments that feel as weighty and engaging as they should. Numerous Easter eggs are also hidden in the game, as well as several familiar locations that appear to have been taken straight from the movies.
The epic, upcoming open world action RPG game Hogwarts Legacy is coming February 10th, 2023 – and you’ll be able to bring your Hogwarts house and wand you’ve discovered with us into the game.
Atomic Heart
A first-person shooter RPG Atomic Heart is set in a different future Soviet Union. Moscow-based developer Mundfish`s game tells the tale of an undercover agent who is tasked with looking into a mystery plant in a distant area of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union’s sci-fi themes and Stanislaw Lem’s writings also served as major inspirations for the game.
Atomic Heart, which was originally scheduled for a 2018 release, has had one of the most fascinating development tales. With whispers circulating that it may no longer be the same game.
Atomic Heart, reminiscent of sci-fi classics like BioShock and Fallout, takes set in an alternate universe where the Soviet Union’s research has resulted in a technological revolution.
Players take control of a Soviet KGB officer charged with breaking into a secret facility that has gone radio-quiet.
Dead Island 2
Get ready to experience the ultimate zombie-slaying adventure in 2023 with Dead Island 2! After years of anticipation and setbacks. The talented team at Dambuster Studios and publisher Deep Silver have finally brought this long-awaited sequel to life. And boy, are we impressed!
Originally slated as one of the biggest next-gen releases for February 2023 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, Dead Island 2 has been pushed back to April. But trust us, 12 extra weeks is a small price to pay for what promises to be a gore-filled romp through a zombie-infested Los Angeles.
A brand-new gameplay trailer has just dropped, giving us a glimpse of the action-packed mayhem that awaits. So, brace yourself for the ultimate zombie showdown and discover everything you need to know about Dead Island 2 – the must-play game of 2023!
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
One of the most serious issues that some fans have had with recent Assassin’s Creed games is their huge environments. Which have “defeated the objective” of the original games in terms of stealth and assassination.
Do you recall how large Valhalla was?
If that is your complaint, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will alleviate some of your sufferings. Because you’ll be assigned to one city, Baghdad, and it will be separated into four districts. The major aim of its vastness is to provide you with the opportunity to once again be a genuine assassin. Use the higher and lower pathways to arrive at your destination while ensuring your target never sees you coming.
The Day Before
The Day Before is a forthcoming open-world MMO about surviving in a dangerous post-pandemic America dominated by flesh-hungry infected and dishonest humans.
After waking up with amnesia, your character sets out to discover the truth while foraging for supplies to stay alive.
You’ll explore a gorgeous environment that has devolved into chaos, searching abandoned vehicles, and houses. And buildings for valuable objects while protecting yourself from foes.
The Day Before has been delayed and will now be released this year on 10 November. It had also been a long time since we’d seen anything about the game. But a fresh gameplay video was released back in January.
Starfield
There’s still some mystery around why humanity is looking to the stars, but we’d assume it has something to do with aliens. Bethesda enjoys teasing us and then surprising us with something spectacular. They’ve been teasing Starfield for years, even when we believed we’d be getting fresh details about the game. The game was then postponed until 2023, and we now have to wait even longer for details.
We now know that the game will be available solely on Xbox One and PC, as well as on Game Pass on release day.
Starfield, like past Bethesda RPGs such as Skyrim. Will take gamers on an amazing open-world journey, but this time in space.
The good news is that we know Bethesda is working hard to develop Starfield a truly space-open world game that everyone can enjoy. We still don’t know all we can accomplish in it. But they’ve been hinting at a revolutionary adventure, which suggests something is on the way from them.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
It’s somewhat amusing that the game about which we still know almost little is at the top of our list. That’s because The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was a revelation when it was released. LOZ games have never been so accessible before. Sure, there were a lot of regions in games like Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time. But they were directed rather than open-world.
So far, we’ve only seen a few snippets and teases for the title. The sequel, officially named The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will have Link explore both the ground and sky areas of Hyrule with new abilities.
This incorporates enhanced item stasis manipulation and teleportation capabilities, which should make traversing much more enjoyable.
Conclusion
This year is going to be a thrilling year for action games set in open-world environments. Game creators are exploring new possibilities in how games look and how they are played. This means we can look forward to seeing some really amazing games that make the most of the newest technologies. We can look forward to playing games with big worlds, captivating stories, and more realistic physics than ever before. This year will be amazing for video game players who enjoy exploring different places and fighting in different scenarios.
