In the popular video game Minecraft, there is a structure called The Pillager Outpost. It was first included in the 2019 Village & Pillage update, which is also called Minecraft 1. 14 update
Big, strong buildings called “Pillager Outposts” are made in a certain area of the game called the Overworld. These mean groups of creatures were added in the update. They can be found near villages and have bad guys called pillagers.
The outpost is made up of a tall building where people keep watch, a portable shelter, and a space for practicing, along with some other buildings. If players get too close to the outpost, the pillagers will attack them. The pillagers appear there naturally.
To obtain valuable items such as crossbows, flags, and emeralds, players can also attack and loot the outpost. This is a risky task, because the pillagers are very powerful and might be difficult to defeat.
Pillager Outpost Minecraft Generation
Pillager outposts are semi-rare constructions that appear every few hundred to a few thousand blocks. As a result, they are more rare than villages but less rare than woodland mansions.
Pillager outposts can form spontaneously in any village-producing biome.
Each of the biomes where Pillager Outposts can generate has its own unique characteristics and challenges. For example, plains biomes are relatively flat and open, which can make it difficult for players to approach the Outpost undetected. Desert biomes, on the other hand, tend to be more barren and featureless. Hence making it easier to spot Outposts from a distance but also leaving players exposed to pillager attacks.
The snowy taiga biome, which is exclusive to the Bedrock edition of Minecraft, presents its own set of challenges with its harsh, wintry climate and numerous hazards such as frostbite and icy patches. Sunflower plains and meadow biomes, also exclusive to the Bedrock edition, are relatively new biomes that were added to the game in the 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update. These biomes are characterized by their colorful flowers and lush vegetation. Which can make it difficult to spot Outposts amidst the scenery.
Pillager Outposts can also Generate
Pillager Outposts can also appear in certain biomes where villages do not spawn. These biomes include groves, snowy slopes, jagged peaks, frozen peaks, stony peaks, and cherry groves. These biomes are often more remote and difficult to navigate than the more common village biomes, and may require more careful exploration to locate any Outposts that may be hidden within them.
For example, the grove biome is a new addition to Minecraft that was introduced in the 1.18 Caves and Cliffs update. This biome is characterized by its dense clusters of trees and is often quite dark and difficult to navigate, making it an ideal location for a hidden Pillager Outpost. The snowy slopes biome, which was also added in the Caves and Cliffs update. It features steep, snow-covered mountains and canyons that provide ample opportunities for pillagers to set up camp and launch surprise attacks.
Pillager Outposts Java Editions & Others
Pillager outposts are generated differently in Java Edition and Bedrock Edition of Minecraft. In Java Edition, the game ensures that outposts never appear too close to or within villages. While this restriction doesn’t apply to the Bedrock Edition, allowing outposts to generate further away from villages. In Java Edition, if an outpost spawns over water or in the air, a circular platform made of grass or sand, dirt, and stone appears underneath it, even for the smaller structures like tents, targets, log piles, and cages.
Sometimes, the smaller structures may still appear in the air if they are too high up. In Bedrock Edition, the foundation of the outpost is similar to that of a woodland mansion: watchtowers are constructed using cobblestone, birch planks, and dark oak logs; tents and cages use dark oak planks; log piles use horizontal dark oak logs; and targets are built on a cobblestone foundation. The main outpost tower is generated each time. While up to four other smaller structures can be found around the main structure. Additionally, eight extra air blocks are generated around the outpost.
Mobs in Outpost
During the construction of a pillager outpost, iron golems and allays can only spawn inside cages, and they do not appear anywhere else. While pillagers are capable of spawning continuously around the structure, they will not attack iron golems in cages.
However, iron golems can attack pillagers if they are within one block of the cage. They can hit through one-block walls. In Java Edition, pillagers spawn in a 72x54x72 area. Centered on the top level of the watchtower, the same level as the chest. Meanwhile, in Bedrock Edition, they spawn at or below a particular location within the outpost. Only pillagers can spawn within a pillager outpost spawn area in Java Edition. They may naturally spawn on any valid opaque block with a block light level of 8 or less, but they cannot spawn on blocks that emit a light level of 14 or greater.
In Java Edition, there are 15 jigsaw blocks that can generate structures around the tower. Each structure has a 1 in 13 chance of being generated, including allay and iron golem cages. When iron golem cages spawn, one golem is produced, while allay cages create two allays. A total of eight pillagers, including the captain, can spawn in a pillager outpost.
To Wrap it all Up
In Minecraft’s Overworld biome, a strong building called the Pillager Outpost is built in or near towns. It was added to the 2019 Village & Pillage update and has powerful enemies called pillagers. Even though there are dangerous creatures, players can attack the outpost to find valuable treasure.
The position of the outpost affects how it looks and the challenges it offers, and it appears only occasionally every few hundred to few thousand blocks. The outpost appears differently depending on whether you are playing the Java or Bedrock Editions. In both versions, iron golems and allies can only appear within cages while the outpost is being constructed. In a place where pillagers hang out, there can be as many as eight of them that appear.
