The month of June is shaping up to be historic for the video game industry. Following May’s PlayStation Showcase, fans can anticipate a slew of exciting events and games, including the Xbox Games Showcase and Summer Game Fest, and blockbuster titles like Final Fantasy 16 and Diablo 4. New titles will also be made available via subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass.
Games that do well on a subscription service tend to stand out from those that don’t, making it difficult to guess which ones will be added to PS Plus and when. Monthly free games for PS Plus prioritize quality and diversity, while PS Plus Extra and Premium add quantity to the mix. While May was good for PS Plus Extra and Premium games, the free PS Plus games fell short. June will need to make up for this. In any case, here is a selection of games that would do well on the service, and we hope to see them soon if not in June.
PS Plus Free Games For June 2023
On PlayStation Plus in June 2023, these are the titles that will be receiving a discount of 100%.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
Playing multiplayer games on PS Plus is advantageous since it promotes or creates a community for any game, regardless of its genre. It’s about time that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands get the same kind of attention that the Borderlands games did when they were published on PS Plus. It came published a year ago, which is a little early, but the looter shooting components, co-op gameplay, and general brand appeal make it a great fit for the service.
Death’s Door
PS Plus needs robust independent titles, but doing so may be tricky. While Death’s Door may not have the broad popularity necessary for a PS Plus game, it’s still a solid option. The protagonist in this 3D isometric action-adventure game is a crow that works as a Reaper, which may seem mundane but has earned it tremendous acclaim and similarities to classic games like Zelda and Dark Souls. That’s a common criticism leveled at challenging indie games, but it doesn’t apply here.
The Witcher 3
The inclusion of The Witcher 3 to PS Plus would be highly anticipated, particularly in light of the game’s positive reception on the PS5. However, the lack of CD Projekt Red games on the service is not set in stone. There isn’t a better time than June. Season 3 of The Witcher, which many viewers are aware of, will premiere in June 2023, but this time around there seems to be a little more apprehension. Henry Cavill’s departure is sad, but not all viewers are pleased with the show’s new direction. We don’t know how well it will be welcomed, but having it included on PS Plus may help ensure that this section of June doesn’t go forgotten.
June 2023 PS Plus Extra and Premium Wish List
Unsurprisingly, the PS Plus Extra and Premium levels have the most enhancements. In some situations, the franchises on these levels are almost finished, but in a few others, it would be exciting to watch the service grow. It makes sense to include House of Ashes shortly given that Man of Medan and Little Hope are currently available on the site. Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation might continue to develop some previously established brands, and because Project Rene is still in development, it would be intriguing to investigate The Sims’ past on PS Plus.
The addition of Metal Gear Solid would be a nice opportunity to go down memory lane, while Mortal Kombat 9 and MKX would be fantastic for those who want to play through the most recent storyline before Mortal Kombat 1 debuts (since MK11 is currently accessible). This would be particularly true if the reports of a Metal Gear Solid Remake came to pass. Additionally, with WWE entering a new golden age, it would be amazing to revisit some of its finest games, beginning with Smackdown vs. Raw 2008.
The Extra and Premium levels will be announced later; however, Sony will announce the PS Plus free games for June 2023 on May 31 (if not earlier at the PlayStation Showcase on May 24). Fans can expect a thrilling month, and Sony should use PS Plus to heighten the excitement.
