“A release was quoting Rick Thiher, the general manager of Evo, as saying that they were happy to have an impressive roster of fighting games at the Evo 2023 and that the first Evo Throwback event was being featured with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.” This year, we are continuing our efforts to enhance the Evo event experience for players and viewers by setting minimum prize pools of $25,000 for each tournament in our program.
After being postponed in 2021 because to COVID-19 fears, Evo eventually made its way back in 2022. Evo, short for Evolution Championship Series, began in 1996 as a series of arcade competitions in Northern California and did not become an official organization until 2002. In 2021, Sony bought the tournament.
On August 4-6, 2023, Evo will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
