Those who have Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass subscriptions from Microsoft may be unhappy to learn that Diablo 4 won’t be included in either programme.
The upcoming installment of the Diablo series will be a premium title that you must pay for in order to play, according to Activision Blizzard executive Rod Ferguson, according to IGN. We’ve been getting inquiries regarding D4 on Game Pass, but we have no intentions to do so, Fergusson wrote in a tweet.
It’s safe to presume Diablo IV will eventually be available on Game Pass given Microsoft’s determination to acquire Activision Blizzard and thereby gain full control over the Diablo Property. Activision Blizzard has decided not to join the subscription service, thus the company will continue to operate independently until Microsoft has overcome all legal obstacles.
Diablo 4 will undoubtedly arrive on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass very quickly if and when the deal is finished. But if Microsoft is able to defeat the FTC’s complaint, overcome Sony’s objections, and persuade the UK watchdog that it shouldn’t have to sell Call of Duty for the purchase to go through, that may be a few months away.
The Limited Collector’s Box version of Diablo 4, which will debut on June 6, does not come with a copy of the game. But, those who chose to pre-purchase are in for a treat this weekend because early access to the open beta is offered from March 17–19, giving players the chance to “intimately explore the early game.”
