The fate of the Call of Duty franchise has been determined as Microsoft receives approval to finalize its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the renowned publisher of the popular first-person shooter series. Following the US judge’s endorsement of the deal, the only remaining hurdle is the United Kingdom, where Microsoft is actively working to complete the transaction. In this article we’ll be talking about Call Of Duty Xbox Game Pass
Phil Spencer, the CEO of Xbox Game Studios, has openly shared his future strategies once Microsoft completes its official acquisition of Activision. Additionally, he has provided noteworthy insights regarding Xbox Game Pass and its connection to the Call of Duty franchise. This article contains the comprehensive details surrounding these announcements.
When will Call of Duty games come to Xbox Game Pass?
According to Phil Spencer, once the acquisition is finalized, Call of Duty games will be included in the Xbox Game Pass. While there are strong rumors suggesting that the next game in the franchise will be Modern Warfare 3, it is doubtful that this particular title, anticipated to launch in November this year, will be added to the subscription service.
Starting from 2025, Call of Duty games will be integrated into the Xbox Game Pass. The only obstacle remaining is the completion of the acquisition, which is anticipated to be finalized in the upcoming months, following the approval of the transaction by the United States.
The specific game that will be launched by the publishers in 2025 remains uncertain, but there are speculations about the release of the next Black Ops title developed by Treyarch in 2024, which is not expected to be included in the Xbox Game Pass.
These expectations are based on the assumption that the $68.7 billion deal is successfully completed. However, if the deal falls through, Microsoft would be obligated to pay break-up fees amounting to $3 billion to Activision-Blizzard.
