All Counter-Strike players, prepare for A sequel to CS: GO, maybe titled Counter-Strike 2. which seems to be in the works.
We can only assume this is a mistake, prank, or humorous misunderstanding until we hear otherwise from Valve, Steam, or anybody else involved. But, if the current NVIDIA leak is true and executable files dubbed “cs2” and “csgo2” have been identified, a beta might run as soon as later this month.
Journalist Richard Lewis has stepped up to confirm that “a new version of CS GO seems to be on the way.” It is “almost certainly set to release under the working title of Counter-Strike 2.” Based on a tweet from the infamous Counter-Strike leaker @gabefollower that revealed the peculiar additions to the NVIDIA driver update.
The “tentative release date for the beta is in this month of March with April 1st at the outer,” as Lewis puts it.
Other Sources
Source 2 games have been called “a genuine thing” and the cs2.exe discovered on the NVIDIA drive has been called “ancient and irrelevant” by other reports.
“I’ve obtained pretty good evidence that Valve has been testing Since early December. CS:GO has been running on Source 2 with the support of third-party QA businesses in the US and EU.” Gabefollower explained. While I have my doubts, I think you should hear this.
As a result, some ambiguity exists concerning the nature of the game, which is maybe to be expected.
“Instead of being a completely different game, a rebrand, or even an update to Counter-Strike. Source 2 will simply be called CS: GO. And don’t worry, your skins will be in the updated version “followed by Gabe.
And it’s not like interest in Counter-Strike is dwindling. CS: GO just set a new record for the most PC users playing at once. After 11 years after the game’s first release on Steam.
Some 20 years after its first release. The shooter just broke its own concurrent record, reaching a high of 1.3 million gamers only last month.
