DEADPOOL 3 STOPS FILMING: SAG-AFTRA, the actors’ union in Hollywood, recently initiated a strike, causing ongoing productions to come to a halt. Deadpool 3, a highly anticipated film, has been affected by this strike, leading to the suspension of its filming as reported by Variety.
The interruption occurred shortly after the commencement of filming. Some unauthorized images and videos from the set recently surfaced online, revealing Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in their respective roles as Deadpool and Wolverine. Additionally, the news broke that Jennifer Garner would be reprising her character Elektra in the movie.
The strike by SAG-AFTRA began on July 13 and is aligned with the writers’ union, WGA, who are also striking to secure improved compensation and safeguards. Numerous Hollywood productions were forced to halt during the WGA strike due to the presence of writers on set who develop new dialogue while the cameras are rolling. Although Deadpool 3 began filming during the WGA strike, it is now completely shut down due to the ongoing labor dispute.
SAG-AFTRA, an organization with over 160,000 members, is anticipated to cause the suspension of numerous Hollywood productions as a result of the concurrent strikes by both WGA and SAG-AFTRA.

While some productions will proceed unaffected, such as the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon Season 2, which features a predominantly British cast and operates under contracts with the local union Equity, allowing them to continue working without joining SAG-AFTRA’s picket lines.
This strike by SAG-AFTRA is the first since 1980 and marks a significant occurrence as both WGA and SAG-AFTRA are simultaneously striking, a situation that hasn’t happened since 1960.
The primary goals of both unions include advocating for improved compensation and safeguards against the advancement of artificial intelligence, among other issues.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has received widespread criticism for his comments stating that writers and actors possess unrealistic expectations in response to the strikes.
