Early Access Sales for Sons of the Forest Are Huge

Earlier this month, developer Endnight Games stated that it will release Sons of the Forest via early access to avoid having to postpone the game. Maybe it was a gamble to release a highly anticipated game in early access at a price of $29.99. The gamble paid off, however, as the game sold over two million copies on its first day of release, February 23. The sheer volume of sales is indicative of the level of anticipation among gamers.

We are extremely thrilled for what we have in store for players in the next weeks.” The firm stated on Twitter. “Thanks to all who have joined us on our Early Access adventure into ‘Sons of the Forest.’ We have sold over 2 million copies in the first 24 hours.”

The popularity of Sons of the Forest is remarkable, but not wholly unexpected. In reality, Thursday’s release of the game caused Steam to crash as the platform struggled to meet customer demand. Today, there were a total of 414,257 players on Sons of the Forest. It is now the most popular game on Steam, behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2.

The game Sons of the Forest has been termed a “survival horror simulator” by people unfamiliar with it. The players are hunting for a lost millionaire on an island that is plagued with cannibals. The game has many of the traditional components of a survival game, giving the player considerable flexibility. There are even distinct seasons, and these seasons have a substantial influence on the available resources. Obviously, the game’s mutant monsters make surviving much more difficult than usual! The game may be played alone or in cooperative multiplayer mode.
