GTA 6 Trailer Hits a Massive Milestone in Just 12 Hours

Not surprisingly, the initial trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is gaining widespread attention, defying expectations with its early release.

The debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 is proving to be a monumental moment in the gaming industry, continually reaching new milestones with each passing hour. Rockstar made waves once again this month, opting to cancel the originally scheduled Grand Theft Auto 6 premiere and promptly unveiling the official trailer after confirming an unfortunate leak.

This bittersweet occurrence for Rockstar was accompanied by a tweet urging viewers to watch the official trailer on YouTube due to the leak. This incident is not the first time Rockstar has grappled with leaks, the most notable being in September 2022 following a severe hack. During that episode, 90 videos featuring in-development footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 surfaced online, unveiling now-confirmed details such as a return to Vice City and the introduction of the first female protagonist since the series transitioned to 3D. Developers from Rockstar and others involved in GTA 6’s production have taken to social media to express their disappointment, lamenting the loss of a special marketing moment. However, they may find solace in the fact that the trailer, a product of years of work, is making a significant impact on the internet.

Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1

As of the current moment, Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 1 holds the top trending spot, closely followed by an analysis of the same trailer. Surpassing 60 million views in just half a day, the trailer has swiftly become the second most-watched video on the Rockstar YouTube channel, relegating Red Dead Redemption 2’s third trailer to third place with a relatively modest 37 million views. While Grand Theft Auto 5’s trailer still holds the lead with 97 million views, its 12-year dominance could be in jeopardy if the sequel maintains its current trajectory.

The astounding success and popularity of the Grand Theft Auto series, particularly GTA 5, which has sold an astonishing 190 million units as of September 30, are difficult to fully grasp. For context, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released less than two years after GTA 5, celebrated surpassing 50 million units in May 2023. Most video games, even those with substantial budgets, struggle to achieve double-digit millions in sales, making the triple-digit tally of GTA 5 an unparalleled achievement for most developers.

Despite the fervor, fans will need to exercise patience. The trailer refrained from specifying a release date, indicating that GTA 6 is set to arrive in 2025. However, PC users may face a prolonged wait to experience the highly anticipated title, continuing a trend established by Rockstar over the past decade. Both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 were released on consoles more than a year before making their way to PC. The official information on GTA 6 suggests that the 2025 release window pertains specifically to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.
