Nintendo will exhibit after a four-year hiatus, Koelnmesse and The German Gaming Industry Association have officially confirmed, following a statement by the event’s organizer that a “Major company” will return to the exhibition.
“We are excited to announce that Nintendo will be exhibiting at Gamescom2023,” organizers said. “Many more exhibitors will follow in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!”
Although The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4—the two biggest games the firm has so far announced—will be out by the time Gamescom takes place in August, it is presently unknown what Nintendo’s presence at the show will include.
When the firm last participated in the event, it mostly displayed titles that would be released later that year. Also, there were a lot of booths where people could test out the games.
The first significant publisher to confirm attendance at the exhibition is Nintendo.
The opening show, Opening Night Live, which is hosted and produced by Geoff Keighley, is also set to return to Gamescom.
The producer of The Game Awards typically hosts Opening Night Live as the pre-show for the German Gamescom expo, which last year was held in Cologne for the first time since 2019.
The dates of Gamescom 2023 are August 22 to August 27. Gamescom organizers Koelnmesse and The German Games Industry Association claim that as of the middle of March, there are 10% more firms signed up for the event in 2023 than there were at the same time last year.
