Roblox Gives Away Headless Horseman For Free

Roblox unintentionally distributed the Headless Horseman collection, a highly sought-after in-game bundle valued at over $275.

Due to an error from the Roblox team, certain players were able to obtain the coveted Headless Horseman character without any charge. Formerly priced at over 30,000 Roblox Robux, equivalent to approximately $300, this distinctive skin was classified as a premium item.

The Headless Horseman bundle holds a prominent place among the most desired virtual cosmetics for Roblox players, especially those aiming for a headless aesthetic. Comprising a total of 11 items, this bundle was originally slated for exclusive sale during this year’s Halloween season, concluding on October 31.

Roblox Won’t Honor the Mistaken Headless Horseman Listing

However, the Headless Horseman bundle unexpectedly reappeared in the in-game store on November 16. Discovered by Reddit user PomdDestructioneer, the character was listed at no cost, allowing swift individuals to grab it for free. The apparent mistake was rectified by the Roblox team after approximately 15 minutes, but not before dozens of players had the opportunity to add the Headless Horseman bundle to their inventories. Despite this, the developers have decided not to honor the erroneous listing.

In a statement on the game’s official forums, InceptionTime, a representative from Roblox Developer Relations, confirmed that the bundle was “unintentionally” put on sale in mid-November, along with several other items. The developers quickly identified the bug that led to the inadvertent listing. Any “affected bundle(s) acquired during this period” will be removed from players’ inventories soon, the official explained. The developers plan to directly notify the impacted users about their response to the issue.

Roblox Corporation’s handling of the mistaken listing is not surprising, considering the recent decision to disallow all free body and head listings on the Roblox store. Therefore, it’s expected that the developers won’t allow players to keep one of the game’s most expensive bundles for free, even though it was the developers’ own mistake that allowed players to acquire it.

For context, the Headless Horseman bundle was priced at 31,000 Robux during its official sale period in October, equating to over $275. This valuation considers the most favorable exchange rate applicable to purchases of the largest, $199.99 currency bundle. While there are alternative ways to obtain Robux in Roblox, they all involve content creation, such as designing cosmetics or developing new games, necessitating a significant time investment.
