Fans anticipating a remastered version of The Last of Us Part 2 for PS5 have reason to rejoice, following leaks from the PlayStation Store and subsequent confirmation from Naughty Dog. Set to debut on January 19, 2024, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is expected to bring enhanced features to the acclaimed sequel.
While The Last of Us Part 2 remastered version isn’t currently visible on the PS5 storefront, data tracking websites that monitor PlayStation Store updates have gathered information about the game. PSdeals.net, for instance, includes a listing for the game, complete with screenshots seemingly captured from the remaster, featuring the standard “captured on PS5” label.
Insider Gaming initially reported the game’s release date and uncovered a teaser trailer released by Naughty Dog. The teaser showcases footage from the Part 1 remaster before transitioning to Part 2 footage. Wario64, a renowned deals enthusiast, corroborated the initial reporting by sharing a link to the same trailer hosted on Sony’s servers, with an official version later appearing on YouTube.
The remastered edition of The Last of Us Part 2 promises a bundle of special features and introduces a novel mode known as “No Return.” Described as a “roguelike survival mode,” it aims to challenge players with randomized encounters, offering a fresh combat experience within The Last of Us Part 2. The mode includes new playable characters, each equipped with unique skill sets, designed to present even seasoned players with a new level of difficulty.
Notably, the trailer doesn’t mention the availability of a Windows PC version of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. While Sony has progressively brought its first-party games to PC in recent years, the release of PC ports typically occurs more than a year after the initial launch.
