Genshin Impact is a popular action role-playing video game developed and published by miHoYo. The game features a wide variety of playable characters, each with their own unique abilities, skills, and personality. However, the game does have a strong emphasis on epic storytelling and adventure, and many of the characters can be seen as heroes in their own right.

Barbatos Biography in Genshin Impact

Barbatos, also known as Lord Barbatos or the God of Freedom, is the Anemo Archon of The Seven who governs Mondstadt. He and Morax are the only original members of The Seven who are still alive at the beginning of the game. Originally, Barbatos was an elemental spirit that resided within the winds.

However, he gained power and became the Anemo Archon after the people of Old Mondstadt placed their faith in him during their rebellion against Decarabian, the God of Storms and founder of Mondstadt. Following Decarabian’s demise, Barbatos took on the mantle of the Anemo Archon and restored Mondstadt to its present state. Now, he roams the world incognito as a bard named Venti, though people can often find him in and around Mondstadt.

Barbatos Personality in Genshin Impact

Barbatos is a free-spirited being, much like his Vision suggests. His mischievous demeanor and whimsical attitude can sometimes irritate those around him with his casual approach. Although he enjoys making music, Morax, his friend and one of The Seven, claims that he is a “shame” to the arts.

Unlike the other members of The Seven, who possess some form of control over their respective nations, Barbatos does not. However, he is ready to take personal action if the liberty of his people is jeopardized. He places a high value on freedom, particularly that of children.

Due to his general absence, he is the weakest of The Seven. Nevertheless, he does not seem to mind, and despite his lack of prominence in his country, the people of Mondstadt revere him, much to the chagrin of foreigners.

Barbatos Appearance in Genshin Impact

The male figure of Barbatos is depicted wearing a cape and ropes, and two wings sprout from his back. His hairstyle consists of two braids, one on each side of his head. Upon further examination, it is discovered that this appearance is based on the Nameless Bard, who died during the initial rebellion that liberated Old Mondstadt.

However, “the elf” was the name given to Barbatos during the rebellion that occurred 2,600 years ago. He had transformed into a wisp-like creature. Despite being smaller than the average human, he possesses green-and-white feathers. Also a green diamond on his chest, and a dark face with white eyes.

Barbatos Background Story

Barbatos, now known as Venti. He was once a nameless entity that formed a bond with the Nameless Bard in Old Mondstadt. Together, they fought and vanquished Decarabian’s tyrannical lord, leaving a power vacuum in the land. Andrius, one of the Four Winds of Mondstadt, conceded to Barbatos as he believed himself incapable of the love for humanity that an Archon needed to have.

Barbatos became the Anemo Archon and reshaped Mondstadt’s terrain and climate while Andrius allowed his power to flow into the land to nourish it. After establishing his land as the land of freedom, Barbatos refused to directly rule over his people and departed.

Barbatos descended to Mondstadt again around 1,600 years after Decarabian’s fall, seeing the state of his land, he used his tricks to assist Vennessa in her rebellion against the corrupt and oppressive Lawrence Clan. Vennessa founded the Knights of Favonius and freedom returned to Mondstadt.

Barbatos decided to remain in Mondstadt to see the results of Vennessa’s work. During the cataclysm 500 years ago, Barbatos summoned Dvalin and together they defeated the dark dragon Durin, which had laid waste to the land.

Barbatos in Present Time

Several months before the start of the game, Barbatos awakened and realized that Dvalin had been corrupted by Abyssal magic. As Venti, he attempted to establish a link with Dvalin to heal him, but the Traveler and Paimon interrupted him, causing Dvalin to fly away and sever the connection.This infected Venti with Abyssal magic in turn, forcing him to retreat. With the help of Diluc and Jean, Venti eventually managed to save his old friend.
