Unleashing the Power of the Elements: Meet Mureta, the New Hero of Dota 2!

Dota 2 is a well-liked game where you control characters called heroes. People who enjoy the game are always happy when new heroes are added. Every hero in Dota 2 has their own special abilities and strengths. When a new hero is added, it brings fresh ways of playing the game and different tactics to try out. Right now, there are 123 characters that you can play. This means there are a lot of choices. However, adding new heroes to the game can make it more exciting and enjoyable for gamers. In addition, it is important to know the different roles of core and support players when forming a well-rounded team and winning matches in Dota 2, regardless of using familiar or unfamiliar characters.

How do we know about it?

Valve took advantage of The International, the final event of Dota 2’s yearly championship held in Singapore, to unveil the game’s 124th hero, Muerta. Dota 2 developer Valve Software has announced that the game’s newest hero will be Muerta, who will be available to play sometime in early 2023.

Every leak we know as of yet

In a post made by u/n3cooling on the game’s subreddit, an image was shared featuring a fresh weapon dubbed “Mercy & Grace.” According to the weapon’s description, it enables players to shoot a spectral bullet at either an opponent or a tree. If the shot lands, it will inflict 300 damage and slow the target for 0.5 seconds by 100%, before ricocheting to another target.

Despite offering bonus cast range and Spell Amplification stats of 100%, the weapon comes with a health penalty of 70%. Additionally, in the same post, u/n3cooling pointed out another new item called “Forebearer’s Fortune” that they had spotted in-game after an update.

Abilities

Depicted in the teaser is a lady strolling beneath a tree. As she proceeds, she encounters a variety of sculptures and artifacts, and candles in the vicinity light up on their own. Muerta, the woman, speaks about the agony she has experienced from both the living and the dead, and how her existence is more terrifying to everyone than death itself.

Towards the end of the trailer, Muerta gazes at the camera and suddenly explodes, smearing her body with turquoise-colored skeletal designs – inspired by traditional Mexico’s Día de los Muertos decorations, which, incidentally, occurs on Tuesday.

Valve has not revealed any details about Muerta’s capabilities or statistics. However, judging from her weapons – two gleaming guns dangling from her belt – it appears likely that she will be a ranged carry with an emphasis on agility.

The Name

It is worth noting that Muerta is a Spanish word for “Death”. Furthermore, Muerta’s appearance bears a striking resemblance to the customary attire donned by the citizens of Mexico during their observance of the “Día de los Muertos” or Day of the Dead festival.

Release date?

Valve has scheduled the launch of the next patch for Dota 2, version 7.33, on March 6. The patch will introduce a new hero named Muerta, although the exact time of release remains unknown.

Valve initially used ambiguous language in their post regarding the Lima Major on February 21, stating they were “looking forward to unveiling” the next patch, which indicated that the update might not be available on that day.

However, after the Grand Final, Wykrhm Reddy, who is effectively the Dota 2 social media representative, posted an image of Muerta with a caption that translates to “See you tomorrow, good night.” This strongly suggests that the patch and the new hero will be released on March 6.

Moreover, the specific release time remains uncertain. Valve does not adhere to a fixed schedule for patch releases, even for major ones. Nevertheless, the company typically introduces updates during its standard working hours. Their primary office is located in Seattle, which is in the Pacific Standard Time timezone. For instance, two of the three most recent numbered patches, 7.30, 7.31, and 7.32, were released at approximately 02:30 PM PST, while one was released at 05:30 PM PST. Therefore, this is the most probable release timeframe for the upcoming update. Meanwhile, one can check out the recent mini-event that Valve launched before the game and learn more about what we already know about the hero.

To Wrap It All Up

The game’s fans are excited about the new Dota 2 hero, Muerta, who has just arrived. People are already interested in her unique design and skills, which were inspired by the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos.

Dota 2 fans have been waiting for the 7.33 patch, which will bring Muerta and possibly more upgrades, with bated breath.

Valve has not mentioned the specific release time; however, it is expected that the release will occur during the company’s working hours, which adhere to the Pacific Standard Time timezone.

Overall, the addition of Muerta adds a distinct and exciting element to the gameplay of Dota 2. Her presence demonstrates that Valve’s game design continues to prioritise creativity and diversity, ensuring that gamers have intriguing new experiences to look forward to. Dota 2 gamers are in for a thrilling trip with the debut of this new hero with the release of the 7.33 patch.
